weanling problems

We have a problem with our 7-mo.old colt that we'd like some help with if
any of you have experienced anything like this. We've been weaning him
since about the end of September and he keeps getting diarhhea off and on.
First time he got pretty loose we gave him some pepto, the vet put him on
sulfa for five days and then told us to give him Fast Track once a day in
his colt grow. The hay he's getting is mostly grass with a little alfalfa.
He cleared up for three or four days and then started the diarhhea again.
He's eating well and drinking well, temp. around 100.2, no elevated pulse
or respiration, but is a bit lethargic. Don't know if he's stressed from
the weaning although he does have company. Our pasture is mostly crested
wheat grass that he's been on with his momma all summer..we did try turning
him back out last week but he immediately started nursing again (and mom
was glad to let him), so we need to keep them separated. Has anybody seen
or had this type of situation with a weanling colt and could help us
out..we're at wits end trying to clear him up.
