saddle blanket advice

Hi! Thanks to everyone who answered my questions about my western
saddle fit (occasional dry spots), a possible purchase of Sports
Medecine blanket and using a Western saddle for CTR.
Someone (Sorry, I can't remember who!) suggested that I use a 1" felt
pad to raise my saddle a little. I have been looking through the
Christmas catalog of Valley Vet supply and I am trying to decide
between two pads:
1)a 3/4" Equiprene "shock-absorbing high density foam...with slotted vent
system to keep horse's back cooler...with less weight." You can use
this on its own or with another saddle blanket.
2)a 1" inch mixed fiber pad (it doesn't specify what type of fiber,
if this makes a difference)
I am thinking of going for the Equiprene pad...it is more expensive
than the fiber pad, but a lot less expensive than the Sports Medecine pad. Has
anyone used the Equiprene slotted pad?
Just out of curiosity (since the ads pronounce it to be the only
saddle pad worth anything!) has anyone used the SM pad...does it retain a
lot of heat?

comfie as can be)
