After reading the thread about enteroliths, it got me thinking. While our
conditions here in Western Australia are entirely different from yours in
various parts of the US, I wonder how common these are in Aussie Arabs? My
4yo purebred gelding has very dry, dessicated manure, but does not seem to
have trouble passing it. He never seems to drink all that much, but does HUGE
wee's. He is fed on oaten hay, chaff/lucerne chaff ratio of 2:1, horse
cubes(12% protein), 4 handfuls wheat bran, 10-12 cups soaked barley and
sometimes a couple cups of soaked lupins, all wet down. He gets a
selenium+ mineral mix at recommended rates for a 4yo. All this talk about
enteroliths is making me paranoid, but it is good to be aware of these
things. Anyone have any ideas on how to combat his dryness?
TIA, Carol and Al Jahara.
