Kahlil Khai at Pawnee Grasslands

First, let me apologize for not having results from the Pawnee Grasslands
ride. We had to leave before the awards.

Kahlil Khai came semi-out of retirement for this ride. Kay rode him in the
30 mile Limited Distance ride. He seemed happy to be back on the trail,
even at 24 years old. His recoveries were still good, and he got nearly
straight "A's" on his vet scores (just a couple of A-).

We brought him back to help his pasture buddy, Nykoss, do his first ride --
and to allow Kay to try an LD ride. Despite Kay's physical handicaps, and
nearing exhaustion by about 25 miles, she made it!

Nykoss did well, too, with near-immediate recoveries and nearly straight
"A's" (he got just two points off on his BC evaluation) for his first ride
ever. We maintained a moderate seven MPH average pace, which was good
enough for us to finish in the top five out of a dozen starters. Of
course, we had absolutely *no* intention of being first!!!

The weather was near-perfect, as was the footing on the trail, the camp and
the hospitality. All in all a wonderful day!
