.Regarding to you question about windpuffs, they are an inflammation of the
fetlock joint; usually happen after heavy work or some kind of trauma to
this joint. Most of the time there is no pain or lameness associated with
them, but once they have begun they may remain for the duration of the
horse's life. Light exercise often helps them, especially if they occur
after a heavily worked horse stops work for a few days. Sometimes a horse
with a long pastern is predisposed to windpuffs.
