Cutoff Times and other important things

>From page 1, American Endurance Ride Conference Rules and Regulations:

"AERC Rules and Regulations provide minimum conditions and
directives for managing and competing in AERC sanctioned endurance rides.
Additional measures may be taken by any ride to provide greater safety
for equine and rider. HOWEVER, EXCEPT IN THE EVENT OF EMERGENCY, THESE
ADDITIONAL MEASURES MUST BE EXPLAINED TO THE COMPETITORS AND MADE
AVAILABLE TO THEM IN WRITTEN FORM AT A PRE-RIDE MEETING."
(caps are mine to emphasize the necessity of notice)

This is very self explanatory, if there is going to be a cutoff time or
other "additional measure", then it must be in writing and available at
the pre-ride meeting.

The most important message, and the fundamental tenet of our sport, is
also found on page 1:

".........but the competitor is totally responsible for self and mount
before, during, and after an endurance ride."

This is so simple that no explanation is needed...but I will say that the
P&G Committee believes in the sanctity of both statements.
