difficult rides

Hello all!! I have to comment on the difficult rides vs easy rides!
It has been my experience that a ride is what you make of it. I know
several instances that a ride seemed fairly cut and dried to me and heard
several others complain about being lost and the trail not being marked
well. I have had rides where I was frustrated and lost a good bit as were
others, and quite a few riders had no problems.
I condition on fairly flat terrain, but find the hillier rides a good
challenge. To me the most boring ride in the SE, and one that I *HATE*
doing the 50 on is a very flat s. Ga ride. IT's so boring to me, but
others find it pleasant to ride. OF course, the ones that are too steep
to me are scarey since I haven't got that to condition in. I just go
slower.

I guess what I am trying to say is that a ride is what you make of it. If
you have a bad attitude going into it, it will probably not be much fun
anyway. If you go to the ride deciding to make it a great fun ride, then
you will have an easier time!! Power of positive thinking. Then of
course, there are those that are horrendous no matter what. In my opinion,
if you are not willing to speak up, boycott, or otherwise complain about
the ride to those in the know, then you have no right to complain about
it. The rides cannot go on if they don't have participation, so if it's
so bad, then show your non-support and don't go!

I have seen too many people afraid to speak up for fear of losing a ride.
I'm sorry but if the ride is that bad, then it probably should be taken
off the ride calender!
I guess I will catch a lot of flames for this, but that is *MY* opinion
and I will stand by it. If you don't like it, don't go. If you like it,
then go and take friends. That's how rides are built and put out of
business both.
If it's a hard ride to you mentally before you start, then it will be hard
all day. If you can make yourself think it will be hard but doable, then
you will have an easier time. The horses pick up on your mood. have a bad
day, and your horse will too!!!
