Teddy,
Thanks for supporting the fact that people need to get involved if =
they're not happy. This is a sport run mostly by volunteers. The =
volunteer directors and officers need to know what the riders want. =
Also, we need more people to get involved and help, and all levels of =
this sport.

<< 100 mile rides are hard to come by and no one wants to kill off a=20
ride no matter how bad. The concept is a good one, but we, the=20
riders, are the ones who control this sport and should have the power=20
to change things. I did say "should", Teddy! Any suggestions?

I suppose I am trying to open up a can of worms...but I stand by RIDERS. =
I
don't knock ride managers, it is a tough job, I've been there. BUT, I =
DO
think WE, the riders, should have more controls. Vets are NOT Gods, =
nor is
the ROC THAT great. To me it is just another ride and EVERY rider =
deserves a
fair shake. We have AERC to govern our sport and WE are the voice and =
the
ones who ride and should have the input. Vets are ADVISORS and the =
controls
for our "delerium". My best advice to ALL of us, especially inb light =
of the
lack of people willing (able) to run for office is to get you say =
in..not
just in "letters to the editor" but in actual, factual input to our
directors. SUPPORT these people..they are there for YOU..because they
care!!! We have basic rules which we assume are used unifromly, but we =
all
have seen exceptions. It is up to us to add or delete rules and =
controls.

Maybe just more of us need to open our mouths and say what we feel. I, =
for
one, am NOT afraid of what others think about my opinions. BUT, I sure =
would
like to hear from more folks who CARE about what is going wrong out =
there,,,

Teddy
