I agree 100% with Trish, as I learned the hard way. We need to be
careful about how we vaccinate. We still need to but I have received
letters from some top vets also with a background in the holistic field
and most recently a letter from Geroge Wessner DVM that recommends no
vaccines on horses with epm for a year and vaccines given one at a time
seperated by a month as these combo shots on some horses are very hard
on their immune system ( weakned leads to epm). Also at a time when
they are healthy and not stressed or about to be stressed.
Even our own small animal vet now has recommending that cats and dogs
don't need to be vaccinated yearly and now some diseases in these
animals are being attributed to vaccinosis. As far as health cert. are
invovled, I talked to a vet in Florida where a case was won in court
regarding the use of nosodes for such a health certificate. Use common
sense and become aware, and don't always opt for the easiest quickest
method (combo shots) as they are not best for the horse...also remember
alot of the hipe about how often shots, worming is needed is put out by
the co.s that make the products and fortunetally some vets now are
seeing past this. Linda
