One more comment Lynn and I will drop the subject - With each post you write
you bring up all the work it is to track these extra horses - if these horses
are being ridden at AERC rides they are generating revenue for AERC and the
ride managers. If these horses are being ridden by a non AERC member in a 50
miler or more that brings in another $10.00 for AERC. If these horses are
sold to a non AERC member who wants to race in the USA, that person will
eventually join AERC and generate more revenue. If they are sold for "big
money" over seas they have probably raced here, at least in limited distance,
and have generated money for a ride manager and as you know limited distance
rides are the financial backbone for many ride managers.
If these horses are never raced then these horses are not generating any
more work then the initial set up which I assume is on a computer and and
therefore is in a data base so there couldn't be that much work to enter a
few lines of information.
I 'm sure it balances out with all the members that have not registered a new
horse in several years.
Lynn, it's not the $10.00 it's the principle!! I understood the first
time the first time I read about the new charge that it is a one time fee for
new horses registered after 12/1/97, but I still strongly disagree with the
concept of charging ANY dues paying member a fee to register any one of their
horses at any time while they are in good standing with this organization.
Stop nickel and diming the membership and ride managers - there are other
ways to generate revenue - some suggested on Ridecamp.
It's obvious we won't agree on this subject but has been interesting
reading your comments.
