Hi Charles:

I am the rider who asked, what's the big deal about Tevis. Now that
I have had a number of responses I think I know the reason. It is
the strategy of the ride; the challenge of taking the knowns and the
unknowns and blending them to your advantage. It is riding smart. Add
to that the physical demands of optimum conditioning and nutrition for
both rider and horse. It is coming to grips with your strengths as
well as your limitations. It is taking responsibility for the final
outcome.

Thanks to all who shared their personal experiences with me. Yes, I will
be at Tevis in '99.
