The best place (for the horse) is to put it on the rider. That way, when
the rider gets off, so does the weight, it also "moves" with the rider.

Depending on how much weight we are talking about here....

Obviously, if Carl has his way, there is no way that I can carry 40 lbs on
myself. :)
