ridecamp@endurance.net: manners on the trail

manners on the trail

Quite a few "not so nice" stories have been on the list lately about
riders not stopping to help another rider. I am going to be the
devil's advocate here because not every situation is the same. I
have stopped to help riders, who, after being helped on their horses
have galloped off leaving me. I have helped riders whose horses were
so out of control that my horse was banged into repeatedly. I am
sure that other riders can tell their own stories. Riders that do
receive help on the trail should also remember manners. So, when a
rider passes by another in need, perhaps there is another side of the
story. If I had a young horse or one that was really uptight, I
would probably pass too. I do, however, stop every time I can
because someday that could be me.
