Hi Karolyn

Last winter Western Horseman had an in-depth article about a horse who also
ran backwards out of trailers (sorry can't find it right now). The owner
took him to a natural horsemanship-type trainer who worked with the horse
on backing over various obstacles outside the trailer and moving forward,
sideways and backwards one step at a time outside and eventually in the
trailer. The owner also bought a more light and open slant load trailer to
replace her old slant with tackroom in back. After much work the horse got
quite alot better but not totally cured. They didn't know what had scared
the horse; it'd been fine for years.

I don't know if that helps, but if I find the article I can let you know
what month it was.
Good luck,
Ann and Cloudy (who'd much rather come out frontwards please)
