I have no problem with the current procedure on BC, I have crewed at two
fei rides( North Amer. Championships), where the riders have the grace and
good horsemanship not to show for BC, because their horses were tired or
foot sore. I know folks at aerc thought long and hard to come up with the
system, it may not be perfect in everyone's eyes but it seems to take into
account many different factors that addresses the stress put on an
individual horse.
I also don't believe I have been at a ride where people would whip and
spur their horses for BC, now I've seem some whoop and hollar and crouch
low over the horses'neck like a Large Jockey, but I don't believe I have
seen such mistreatment as you have. (and I'v e been to many of the
Championship series rides, the Roc and other high profile rides where you
might expect to see such a thing)..
One other thought, I've always thought that most people raced in
to
get the placing, not to position themselves for BC, I always thought BC
was like Icing on the cake... the win or high placing was the most
important, and if you got BC then all the much better. Well, Just my
thoughts Flame away!
