Boots and Manners

Linda,

Molly also interferes when her shoeing isn't done just right. I use a
Professional Choice interference boot which I bought from Running Bear.
It protects just the part needed, is light weight, easy to clean along
the ride and she doesn't even notice it.

As to manners, being a new rider, I've done every stupid thing in the
book. My friends in the Great Lakes Distance Riding Association and
UMECRA have been infinitely patient. They could tell Darryl and I were
really trying, and explained problems. I had a horse who was very hot to
trot and hard for me to control. Instead of complaining, they would say
what good potential she had and teach me the next step. They have waited
for us to master one technique or issue before bringing up a new one.
They have taught us about tack, riding hints, horse diet, etc. etc. etc.
The vets have taken the extra time to explain what they were finding and
what it meant to the horse. They have shared emergency materials we
didn't even know about until the need arose. Distance riders have a lot
to teach the world about being a group. I can hardly wait for the next
set of beginners to start so Darryl and I can begin to reciprocate!

Thanks everyone!
