Amy, I've occasionally had the problem, found that cantering to the side of
the lock (again, depends on severity of lock, my horse never had that
horribly classic lock -- just caught it and would be dead lame for several
strides) seemed to correct it. I devised a "rehab" program with lots of
canter departs and lateral work and was careful to ride the horse so that he
was "under" himself. Analyze your horse's conformation -- is he somewhat
straight in stifles, etc., etc.
