I used one years ago ('87) when trying to measure back country mileage for
and endurance ride. Not good results. Different stride length at walk,
trot, downhill etc. Gave a rough guestimate but... Also the one I used was
not waterproof and if you forget and walk into a creek/pond to drink... It
rusted. New ones may be better.
