There was some discussion leading to an expressed desire for "No Fril/No
Thrill" reduced rate rides. I won't attempt to break down the entry
fees...

The Old Dominion 100 Mile Ride association in Virginia offers a "No
Frills 50" in the Spring. (It's a great training opportunity towards
the Old Dominion 100 - one TOUGH ride with ~ 50% riders finishing and
the winners complete in about 16 hours. End placers often come in with
minutes to spare and may still be top ten.) There are nominal prizes at
the No Frills 50, no meals, ...just great trails & vets. The scenery is
<gorgeous> - VA's Shanendoah valley area. There are some folks that
lurk on the list that actually run these rides. Perhaps they'll speak
up & tell the Westerners how they get away so cheap.
