Sue,

What I've found to be very beneficial:
Your own comfy chair.
An umbrella that attaches to the chair.
A good book.
Munchies that don't require refridgeration.
Extra food (the ride manager or vet check manager should
supply this, but you never know.)
If you drink coffee or tea, bring your own, just in case
the ride manager doesn't bring what you drink.
An extra complete set of clothes - warm or cool depending on conditions.
Your own stethescope - with your name plastered on it.
A watch with second hand, or digital readout.
A hat, sunglasses, sunscreen, bug spray.
(Friend Sarah taught me a neat trick. Spray the bug spray on
the underside brim of your hat. It keeps the bugs from going
for your face.)
A flashlight with your name on it.
A washcloth or hand towel. You can wet the washcloth and then freeze it.
It will stay cold for hours.
