any seamstresses out there?

I'm a long-time seamstress who likes to make her own "stuff" --
rarely do I save much money, but always have fun making and using things
I made myself.

Now I'm into making horsey stuff but cannot find specialty fabrics like
Cordura nylon and neoprene locally (I can get accessories easily -- nylon
web strap, clips, buckles, etc.).

My local fabric shop suggested contacting the manufacturer directly, but
obviously I only want to buy a little (how many yards of Cordura can you
use on one horse? :) and doubt that would work. Are any of you into
sewing your own stuff? Know where I could order small quantities of
fabrics like Cordura and neoprene?
