Troxel v. Lexington

A few weeks back, there was some discussion about the fit of a Troxel vs.
Lexington, harness comfort, etc., and a few folks asked me to report on my
"great switch" which has now occurred, so ...

After four days with my new Lidlocker I can say it has changed my life!
<VBG> Seriously, it has been a tremendous boon to riding comfort. I now
firmly believe that these two different brands of helmets are shaped
differently, and clearly my head is Lidlocker-shaped. :)

My Troxel never did fit my head, and would flop forward and back when
cantering (especially into the wind) and a little bit side to side ...
changing the pads around and adjusting the harness never solved the
problem. I finally decided to risk the cash and buy a Lidlocker, and it's
wonderful! The helmet sits right on my head no matter what I do -- even
cantering into the wind with the Cashel Cap stuck on. It's great. The
harness takes a little getting used to, as it is much bigger and grips
more of your face than the Troxel, but I think that helps with the
stability (I don't even want to think about the weird tan lines I'll be
acquiring :). The Lidlocker system is quite clever, I think, and very
effective. I don't know how other Lexington helmet styles fit, as I've
never seen any (nothing but Troxels at my barn -- until now).

So any of you who suffer Troxel flop like I did, try a Lidlocker (borrow
one if you can for a trial ride).

At least now I have an emergency spare, in case I smash up the new one
(heaven forbid).

Glenda & Lakota (you won't smash it up if you don't fall off, mom!)
