Has the vet mentioned surgery as an option? The mare I'm campaigning this
year can be a bit of a bitch and in early May she got in a snit at someone
out in the corral and managed to break a splint bone (I think she kicked
the fence). I opted for removal of the bone -- even tho it was pricey,
she was sound and back in work in a month and there is nothing for her to
re-injure (altho, being a horse, I'm sure she'll find something new . . .).
