I was going to post this story anyways because I can't imagine
how the heck 4 men on foot were able to lift Becky's horse
Laine back UP HILL onto the trail and free her from the rocks.
Horses are Heavy!

But, since we are talking about running back to the barn for a
rope, I can tell that you people don't own a Thoroughbred! ;-)

Yup, Magnum the-best-horse-in-the-whole-world did just that when
his old buddy Rascal fell off a bank and got stuck upside down in
the creek. Well, OK, he didn't actually GET the rope, but he did
run back and forth between Rascal and the gate trying to attract
attention. He was quite upset... knew Rascal was in mortal danger.
Good thing there were people around to help! He was running up and
back whinnying ... and TB's are *loud*. Lead us through the pasture
right to where Rascal was stuck.

It took 8 or 9 people with ropes to move Rascal... a thin older
15.2 Arab cross. We would haul on him and he'd move a few inches
forward. We tried to be as careful and gentle as possible. He
needed to be pulled just a couple feet forward so we could free his
withers from under the bank. It was REALLY hard work. Got him
free though. I can't imagine 4 men lifting Laine back onto the
trail. In hind site I think the better way to free Rascal might
have been to call the Fire Department ... and maybe Rescue 911.

Of course if it was me stuck in the creek, the 'ol TB would have
been off grazing with his buddies.

ps... if you haven't heard the one about the horse and the rabbit
and the quicksand, maybe I'll email it to you in private. ;-)
