Bits and Bitting

For those who have questions about bitting, may I suggest a wonderful
book, "Bits and Bitting Manual" by William G. Langdon,Jr. It examines
all types of bits, english and western, how they work, the pro's and
con's of each. I have owned three copies and each time I lend them out,
I never get them back. I consider it my contribution to the well being
of those friends horses. I ordered mine through Breakthrough
(800)824-5000.

I suggest to those who are having bitting problems, to look inside the
horse's mouth to determine its conformation. Many Arabians have low
palates and a broken mouth bit, adjusted improperly can be utter
torture. For those individuals, a three piece bit like a french snaffle
is kinder.

I agree with the person who said to work on buddying (herd bound
behaviour at home). I would like to discuss this privately because I
have had limited success with it.

RE: Standardbreds-We now have a arab/standardbred cross. She's really
wonderful. Great mover, great bone, nice attitude. Sorta like my arab
on Valium, HA HA Julie Capaldi
