I don't know the exact definition but if you have a Sportack catalog you
can find one pictured. It has a rawhide covered metal noseband with V
shaped shanks at the bottom. The reins attach at the bottom of the V.
The V shanks move independently from each other unlike a bosal where the
hole noseband/shank is one solid piece.
If you look for them you will see them at the races.
