Help! My horse is Anemic!

Hi Everyone,

Finally I am caught up enough so I can participate. I have been reading
and have a million questions/input - but was just unable to do so.

The beginning of July, Donna from Altoona and myself took our horses and
headed for the mountains of GA/TN because it was so hot and humid in
FL. We went to Pigeon Mountain - great place - great riding with
beautiful trails and cool up on the top. There has been an endurance
ride held there in October in the past, don't know if it is still going
to be as I don't find it in the ride calendar. Anyway, while there we
wanted to go whitewater rafting and needed a place to put the horses, we
found a place called Trails End near Chickamauga Battle Field (another
nice place for riding - approximately 60 miles of trails). Unbeknown to
us, they had a virus going on, and Sara (the owner) did not inform us.
Needless to say our horses got this and so we cut our vacation short and
came home.

I had my vet out and put my guy on antibiotics and also had a CBC blood
test done on him. The results showed no secondary infection but that my
guy was anemic and now have him on Lixitinic. What is the norm for the
PAC? Any suggesting as to what the course of action here should be? I
am planning on doing the 50 at the Biltmore the end of September?
Should I be going? Let me know your ideas. In the meantime - I am in
a panic!
