Any feed can be analyzed by the way it dissolves in various chemicals. Fat
content is frequently referred to as ether extract. Fiber content is
analyzed by dissolving in acid detergent and neutral detergent. It is way
of determining the amount cellulose (digestible), hemicellulose (partially
digestible) and lignin (indigestible). All forages contain some of each. If
you want more detail, I believe there is more information in the archives.
