the extra mail...on ridecamp

these things are showing up all over the internet. they mail to
everyone and the only way i know for it to be kept out of a list
like ours is to have someone personally inspect each message before
it is posted - or a moderated list.. a lot of work... =20

there are programs that try to keep it out but
software is now available that claims to handle up to 5 million=20
mailings and to bypass any screening that just runs with s/w.

i am getting 2-3 a day now. the list is not posting it - it
has just been mailed to the list - which is nothing steph or
the list has any control over.

some congress folks are trying to legislate but it may take a while
and of course always runs into the "free speech" situation.
