how come...

with all of the infinite wisdom from the people on this list...

nobody has ever mentioned that if you put a natural sea sponge (you know,
the EXPENSIVE ones!) in a disinfectant solution...that the sponge will melt
into a goobery mess!!!

what happened is....I used the sponge on a training ride...turns out my
horse had contracted 'girth itch' (probably when we pre-rode the Tevis
finish)...which is a fungus...and so I have had to disinfect all of my
tack. So while I am watching my beautiful brand NEW sea sponge
discentegrate in my disinfectant...I'm thinking...uh-oh- I just rinsed out
my stirrups in that stuff (that have foam rubber in the foot part)...but
luckily they are still intact (whew!)

Happy Trails,

Karen
in Gardnerville..who is only going to use synthetic sponges from now on!
& Weaver...well at least I didn't melt when I got disinfected!
