Bowed Tendons

OK, here goes.

In Feb. of this year I purchased a 5yr old (6yrs this this August) 1/2 arab /
1/2 QH mare. She is big, with lots of go, and lots of staying power.
However, during a short 15 mile "endurance" ride for a benefit, she pulled a
tendon (front right foot). The vet called it a mild "bowed tendon". For two
weeks we used a DMSO/furasine sweat, then just clean wrappings for the next
two or three weeks.

As of this writing, there is no tenderness or swelling; however, the tendon
has healed to a greater diameter than the non injured tendon... and, when she
trots (slow trot) she is just a little short on that side. At the extended
trot, cannot notice anything, or at the canter.

She has not been ridden since the injury, these are observations from
watching here in her pasture.

Does anyone have any personal experience with this type of injury? If so,
what can I expect.... and when? I realize every injury may be different, but
any input would be appreciated.
