Is it sorrel or chestnut?

Ok, a little off topic but I have to ask. I got into a discussion with a
friend yesterday on what a red horse with a flaxen mane and tail is called.
Is it a sorrel, like I thought, or a chestnut, like she thought? Then if
you have a liver chestnut with a flaxen mane and tail what's that called?

Meanwhile I had Kidd xrayed, and lucky me he didn't fracture any bones or
have any calcium that is rubbing ligaments. Xrays were clean in his right
front ankle. Remember the cholla problem I had about 2.5 months ago? Well
he sounded up and after 5 weeks off I started him back slowly and he sored
up again. Went to the vet, found pain in the ankle joint after flexion
test, synovial fluid leaking a little. Laid him up with re-evaluation after
4 weeks. Had to put him in a small pipe corral, which he hates. We figured
he pulled some ligaments horsing around, or that the cholla punctured his
ankle joint between the sesamoids somewhere. If not enough improvement in 4
weeks I will have him ultra-sounded.

At this rate I will NEVER make it to my first endurance ride! Oh well its
too hot in Southern AZ to ride anyway!
