Fly masks and Ears.

NEVER, never feel embarrassed about doing something that is going to be in
the best interests of y our horse and those fringed ears do make quite a big
difference. Phoenix wears them allthe time when we ride out in the buggy
woods. He has a pair of brown ones, some white ones and a set of red white
and blue!! The very first time many years ago I had a white cotton pair on
him on a competitive ride (these didn't have the fringe the present day ones
have). They tied under his chin and everyone was falling off their horses
laughing at us. But I had the last laugh because he wasn't tossing his head
around like all the other horses (the deer flies were as big as robins I'll
swear). Several weeks later I met a group who had been on the ride and,
guess what?, their horses were sporting new ears.
I've also ridden Phoenix in a fly mask because of an eye injury and he's
never bothered by either it nor has it constricted his vision. We use them
occasionally now when the black flies and mozzies are particularly bad.
They are also good for U.V protection.
