ridecamp@endurance.net: I found him!

I found him!

Well gang, I finally found my next endurance horse.

He's a six year old grey gelding named Nykoss, a purebred Arab of
Russian breeding, by Kossackk out of Ninnotckka. I bought him from
Bobbi Richine's Rocky Mountain Training Center.

I rode him here at home for the first time today (I tried him at
Bobbi's). Besides being well put together, he is an intelligent and
even-tempered horse. Willing without wanting to be out in front --
just like Kahlil. I like a horse that applies his energy to the
business at hand rather than fighting to be first in line.

He's had some dressage training but no conditioning yet -- I'll be
starting with basic LSD. But I'll finally be back out on the trail!
25 mile rides at first, of course, and then s - l - o - o - w fifties
for a while. But two or three years from now, y'all running up front
watch out ... that grey tail disappearing around the bend ahead just
might be Nykoss!

There's one possible change at hand. Nykoss' previous owner, who sold
him to Bobbi only a week ago, misses him and wants him back. She's
asked me to consider trading him back for one of her other horses. I
understand her feelings, and I've promised to consider the trade --
but the other horse will really have to show me some stuff for me to
go through with it! I've been looking too long, and been disappointed
too often, to let this one slip through my fingers.

Oh, one more thing. A big "thank you" to everyone who responded to my
requests for help in my search. Unfortunately, I'm a poor
correspondent (really!) and didn't answer every e-mail personally --
but they were all appreciated. I had a number of good horses offered
to me, which just didn't quite fit the profile I was looking for.

See y'all on the trail!
