<< The splints are going down slowly, and, depending on the injury and the
 horse may never go completely away.
 
 The vet suggested dmso and compressive wraps, which I tried for 5 days
 and didn't appear to affect anything.  Like your horse, mine had no
 lameness at all.

I have had splints "frozen" and I have had splints removed.  It does not seem
to make much difference.  In most cases my horses were never sore long, but I
always gave them six weeks off for the calcification to take place.  Cheaper
in my book (unless there are good reasons) is to just give the horse rest.
