I just read an article in Michael Plumbs' Horse Journal about scratches.
Thought I would share it with you after all the talk about scratches. The
owner had a Paint horse that had swelling in a hind leg bad enough to call
the vet out. The treatment included Genticin spray which overtime helped
with the swelling but did not get rid of the scabs. Her riding instructor
recommended the application of a sauerkraut wrap. The owner took plastic
wrap taped to the coronet band, up to the hock filled it with canned
sauerkraut then taped closed. Then put a bandage wrap on it. Left it on for
three days. All scabs gone...beautiful pink skin,no swelling.....now just
waiting for hair growth. The editor supported the use of this treatment as
the sauerkraut is just a hypertonic saline solution which also has the
healing properties of phytochemicals. They added that sauerkraut is
possible antifungal and antibacterial...as it is not friendly enviroment for
any organism.

hmmmm?
Whose got the hot dogs?
