Oh! They have TB's too???? ;-)

When the little bay TB popped his splint he was layed off for 6 weeks
and then started back slowly at a walk. He was slightly off. He
had a definate fracture of the splint bone that continued to get
smaller even after a year. The vet suggested I pull him out of his
pasture and keep him quieter. He paced and fussed in his "new home"
for 36 hours before jumping the fence and going back to where he
wanted to be. I just left him out on pasture and he was fine... no
perminant lameness or anything. I fed him MSM and it seemed to help.
I'm not sure topical DMSO would have done any good. I'd beware of
anything with a steroid in it that might slow the healing process.

What I appreicated most was the now forgotten people on this list who
kindly pointed out splints are more warrior badges than being a bad mom.
