Remember there is no stigma to being eliminated from an endurance ride and
if you have the concept that being pulled is denigrating to you then that
is
your "personal problem".

We need all the definitive data we can obtain and in my book the reasons
for
elimination are not definitive enough! I would like to see the cause
defined
, in the case of lameness, to the leg and if possible the region of the leg
and causative factor. In the case of metabolic I would like to have defined
a degree of intensity if possible. But for now we will be satisfied with
what we do get.

Remember the sport is for the horse not the rider. Big egos must be
suppressed and the credit given to the horse.

Well said, Bob! I think we learn to know our horses and also understand their
limits by an occasional judicious pull. I recall being offended by several
people who were verbally irritating when i pulled our horse just about 3
miles form the finish. Never did figure out what was wrong with him - he just
seemed to "hit the wall". He OCULD have been pulling my leg. I don't know,
but I will never regret pulling him. I slept better!
