Hi, Andrea,

I've never had a farrier who did NOT want the horse held while he/she
worked. What is the problem? I'd much rather be there and see the work
being done, as well as to ask any questions that might come up. If this
is the first shoeing you've had problems with, could it be that the
horse's soles are tender and removing the pads is the cause? I think I'd
put the pads back on & see if the horse goes better. Give the guy a
chance to correct what is wrong; you have to communicate, and let him
know what you are thinking (even if he might not want to hear it). Good
