good news for all northern ca riders(and others) and entrants to Tevis
1997. the bill for repair of the now famous 'No Hands Birdge' has been
signed by the president and repair work will begin soon. A lot of pre
repair stuff (engineering etc.) but the bridge is expected to be open
late this year. The grass roots effort was lead by one man. He was the
chief orgainzer of the letter writing campaign and was in constant
contact with washington folks. He took the leadership role when most of
us were just mumbeling about it. Without him, i dont think this bridge
would ever be reopened. (yes it will be open this year for Tevis before
repaired, thanks to him) His name is Larry Suddjian (wstf@foothill.net)
and is is a member of the Board of Governors for the Western States
Trail Foundation, as well as Ride Director for Tevis this year as well
as the past several. Thanks Larry for the super effort.
