KC Auction II - Central California

There are still about 45 or so horses left to be adopted out of the 105 that
went to auction last Saturday.

There are 14 yearlings - all born after the herd was rescued. These probably
show the most promise. The 2 year olds and up are small/stunted. I was told
some of the 2 year olds were just skin and bones when they were picked up.
One thing for sure, these horses are tough.

If size is not too big a concern or registration, you may find a nice horse
there AND help to rescue one at the same time. I myself am struggling with
whether to plop down $500 minimum bid for a yearling that is not able to be
registered. (I know that its a purebred arab, so...... who cares what others
think. Besides, I know of at LEAST one successful endurance horse that is
registered as a Grade - right Kim?) I could get a nicely bred, yearling with
papers for less.... but at the end of the day, it costs the same to feed and
keep.... so what's a $100 or so more dollars.

Here's you chance to do some good and at least get a nice trail horse. The
auction starts at 9:00 on Saturday, June 14, at the Kern County Fairgrounds
in Bakersfield. From the 99 freeway, exit Ming Avenue and head East for
about 5? miles. Cross Chester Avenue and the fairgrounds will be on your
left hand side.

Please come help if you can. The fate of those remaining after Saturday is
unkown.

Let me know if you are going and if you want some info on the horses
remaining. There are a few registered 7-8 year olds left.
