Hi all,
I'm amazed that none of my Australian Colleagues have posted the results of the
32nd Tom Quilty Gold Cup, which was run last weekend in New South Wales. As
the official results book isn't out yet, I'll try to give some results from
memory...
The ride was run out of Cooranbong, which is in the southern end of the
beautiful Hunter Valley (one of Australia's premier wine growing areas). It
started at midnight on Friday night with 4 legs - 50km, 46km, 43km and 21km (I
think).
The winner was Terry Woods from New South Wales in a ride time of approx 10.5
hours. Equal 2nd/3rd was the father/son team of Bob and Brook Sample from
Queensland in about 11 hours. 1st Heavyweight was Ron Haig, also from
Queensland, 1st Lightweight/Catchweight was Daiske Yasanaga (I hope that's
correct) from Japan, riding one of Bob Sample's horses Sharahd Lexia. 2nd
Lightweight was Anne Jones from Queensland. 1st Junior was Shannon Parker,
also riding for Queensland.
Best Conditioned Horse in the Middleweight was Terry Woods (can't remember the
horses name, sorry)
Heavyweight was Ron Haig
Lightweight was Daiske Yasanaga
Junior was Shannon Parker.

No doubt my fellow Australians will update further, and when the official
result book comes out we can update more as well.

Paul.
