I just have to second what Kim Fuess said about Terry Wooley Howe's policy
on refunds. I think that Terry's attitude towards refunds is just symbolic
of her attitude towards putting on a ride--be overly generous, give more
than expected, treat the riders great--and they will come!! Terry has the
ability to look at the Big Picture and it has worked. There are lots of
riders out there who go to "Terry's rides" just because she is the one
putting them on. They have become legendary over the past few
years--riders just rave about the treatment they get & how much fun they
have. I'm just worried one of these days they'll be full up & I won't get
my entry in on time!
PS: And anyway the issue of just changing one's mind must be very rare
indeed. Why would anyone go all that way & after all that packing (yuk!) &
then just change their mind?? My experience has been that the majority of
riders I know err in the other direction--out on the trail when they should
be home in bed with a hot toddy, rather than miss a race!
