I think of sitting deep as one part of a half-halt. I visualize
gathering my strength and balance into my center of energy i.e. I
tighten my stomache muscles, broaden my lower back and hold my breath
for a second. That causes tension throughout your body
including, slightly , your hands. If your horse is tuned into you, she
will pause, listen and collect. If you continue the half-halt, she will
slow to a halt so you have to figure out the timing of your aid. If
she's not listening, slow down by whatever means necessary and try again
at a slower pace, when she responds move on out again.
