     Heck I ride Finn with the Ultra Shield fly mask from now till fall. 
     It's light weight, mosquito netting really so easily seen thru. Not 
     suitable for turn out though. My suggestion for the sunburned faces is 
     use the heavier Farnam Fly mask and make a "veil" or visor of cordura 
     or even the same screening material as the mask. Stitch the veil onto 
     the lower edge of the fly mask so it will hang down over the nose and 
     lips. If you cut it in a half moon shape it will not interfere with 
     grazing and drinking. I've seen the material that the flymasks are 
     made of at Minnesota fabric. It's used for lawn furniture seats. If 
     you've ever seen those leather bibs that are hung on the underside of 
     halters to prevent a horse from using his teeth on blankets and 
     bandages you'll get the idea of the shape of the visor, only use it on 
     the top of the nose. Read this idea over on E-L. Can't you just see a 
     bunch of Arabs running around in veils????

I have ridden with a fly mask on my horses. I got the impression that it did 
cut down on their vision a little bit, but probably was worth it to keep the 
flies out of their eyes. Feeding supplemental vitamin C MAY reduce the 
incidence of cataracts in animals as it does in humans.-Amy
