Nicco,
I've a lanky, high withered, Paso with a prominent spine. Ro is not
as large as Hal, being 14.3, but at 5'3" neither am I. (However, I weigh
more than you do!)
When I got Ro I had one of the early Ortho-Flex Endurance Cut Backs
and after having a friend beg/buy it out from under me, have replaced it
with a newer/better version of the same style saddle. Aside from an
occational tickelish reaction (*anywhere* on his body, including his back)
we have never had any back problems with either O-F's. Before, during and
after rides (LDs, 50's & 3day 100s) his back/saddle area has always come
thru sstraight A's. I can't say the same for other saddles that "seemed" to
fit, that I had to use while waiting for my new O-F to come in. In fact, Ro
gives me a dirty look when saddled with any other saddle. After several
months of various, but mostly my husband's Aussie, saddles I could feel a
definite lengthening of stride and fluidity of his movement when my O-F
finally came in.
Probably the second best saddle for Ro was my friend's "oximoron",
an endurance style Big Horn, or hornless Big Horn, saddle.
I can go on for pages about it, but with only one exception, that
O-F has fit every horse we've tried it on regardless of breed.
Hope I've helped.
