REFUNDS - manager of 17 rides a year - over 200 rides since 1983

I have managed rides for a long, long time and have always refunded
entries if the rider can't start the ride, regardless as to the type of
ride...one day or multi day.

On the two 5 day rides, New Mexico Renegade and Timberon, my refund
policy is:

5 day entry on the same horse is $325.00 +/-, individual day entry is
$70.00+/-..if you enter all five days but ride less than the 5 days, your
refund is based on the "one day" entry fee ($70.00) for the days you
rode, with the refund being sent two weeks after the finish of the ride.
I give a pre entry discount on the 5 day rides.

On all other rides I manage (and there are lots of them) you get a full
refund if you don't ride, and I do not require pre entries. I consider
myself a "professional ride manager" and I think that most, if not all,
the riders from all over the United States and Canada that enter my rides
consider them to be professionally managed and rider friendly. Most of
my rides are no frills, but the Renegade & Timberon have unique and
beautiful awards...many being antique and/or collector item artifacts of
the old west

I am not in the habit of losing money but occasionally a ride will lose,
such as TIMBERON last year when I had to postpone it due to the Lincoln
National Forest closure,,,but that was a unique one time situation. In
nearly all other cases the rides pay for themselves. Due to the enormous
early expenses involved in a multi day ride, pre entries are accepted to
help pay for some of those up front costs, thus a discount to those who
enter early and why the refund is after the ride - the money is spent on
awards, insurance, permits, etc.

Ride Managers are folks who have a love affair with the sport...they
don't manage rides to make a living they manage rides for very abstract
reasons. Those few managers who are trying to make a living from rides
soon find that it is a short lived occupation.
