In a message dated 97-05-21 14:47:30 EDT, you write:

<< You knew you'd hear it! But I have to say in their defense, the "old
style"
quarter horse, such as those owned by Will James, would "turn on a dime, &
give you back a nickle's change". They were built to work cattle all day,
day
after day. I had one -she was small, quick, smart, fast, & stayed under a
struggling 11 yr. old inexperienced girl trying to help round up Grandpa's
cattle!

As with a large % of man's involvement in "breeding" a species, we haven't
done them justice. When well conformed, & conditioned they also do well
with
endurance. >>
Dear Connie, actually, i was talking sort of tongue in cheek!--My husband
says I'll so anything to get an argument going! he may be right
:)---Seriously though, I too have known some fine, fine animals--who also
happened to be QHs--my faithful old gelding Tash, who has hauled my butt all
over Michigan for 20 years, and will go over, through, into, around, under
etc. anything you point him at and at any speed you ask--is half Quarter (and
half-Arab)---I never enduranced him, but never saw him outclassed on any
trail either---it would have been interesting to see him do his trail horse
thing at speed, and for distance.
