The discussion of endurance bloodlines has been interesting. In my
opinion a good bloodline will produce horses of a consistant type and
quality. Over the years a number of individuals in this line will be
outstanding individuals in the sport. If a bloodline produces a lot of
brothers and sisters that really don't resemble each other, it isn't a
potent bloodline. As a long time western endurance rider there are
four lines that I feel represent the best in endurance bloodlines.
Please understand that I am not saying that these are the only ones,
they are not. They are just the ones that I am most famaliar with.
They are the Rush Creek horses, the Hynais horses, the Bezatal line, and
the Karathy line.

Rush Creek and Hynais are ranches that had a breeding program geared to
produceing endurance horses. A lot of endurance champions, and a lot of
endurance history came off these ranches. Bezatal and Karahty are
stallions who excelled in the sport are have produced get that are doing
the same. I find that there are many new riders to the sport who have
never heard of any of these.

How many of you have had the experience of rideing along and seeing a
horse in front of you, where before you ever get close enough to see the
details of the horse, you know the blood line of the horse from the way
it moves. The four bloodlines that I mentioned all produce very
distincrtive horses that are easily recognizeable from the way they
move. It is fun and fairly easy to do. You can be rideing along and
see the horse you are with is a Bask horse, or a Bey Shaw horse, etc
etc. Observe and try it, you will be surprised at how many times you
are right.
