UPDATE: On the Kern County(Bakersfield, CA) Adoption/Auction of the 100+
Arabian Horses (June 7/14), the County has decided NOT to Coggins test the
horses! There will be a veterinarian on site to draw blood for the test,
however this will cause a problem for out-of-state buyers as the test will
not be completed for direct delivery over state lines. Officer Ed Hanks of
Kern County Animal Control can be reached at (805)861-3641. The Veterinarian
on site will be Dr. John Tolley of Bakersfield Animal Hospital at (805)832-1150.
It has been decided that ALL the horses will be run through a ring and
auctioned, and the winning bidder be allowed to adopt. Minimum bid will be
$500. An adoption application must be filled out and approved prior to adoption.
There will be transportation available for LOCAL delivery only.

oooh, I've just realised my new arab mare, Mouse, has this - OK, it's
relatively small, but she's only 5... *and* she has an black mark on
her rump (when I first noticed it, I thought she'd been leaning against
something oily). Does this mean anything?

<sorry, tongue in cheek...>

She's a long way off "endurance status" yet - being not even broken,
but hopefully we'll get there one day. I'm teaching her the sound of
velcro, and will start working on the art of sponge throwing shortly.

One last question - I haven't got her papers, but was curious as to
"what flavour" arab she might be. My farrier suggests Egyptian with
Polish thrown in, to make her larger (? she's only 14.2h). Could anyone
who knows about such things take a look at her web page and let me
know, please?
